Rossford, Ohio. While conducting an inventory for an upcoming auction, the Pamela Rose Auction Co. team came across a collection of boxes containing old architectural blueprints & drawings. After some research, the team at Pamela Rose Auction Co. LLC learned these were a large collection of architectural line drawings by well-renowned architect, George B. Rheinfrank of George B. Rheinfrank Co. Architects & Engineers.
George B. Rheinfrank, a distinguished Toledo-area architect, was a prominent designer of hundreds of buildings in the Toledo area and surrounding vicinities during the 1900’s to 1950’s. During his career, he designed numerous buildings from majestic homes located in Toledo’s Old West End to renowned commercial buildings in the downtown area.
According to Pamela Rose Auction Co.’s Apprentice Auctioneer, Brady Helminiak,
“Jordan (Rose) and I were doing an inventory for an upcoming personal property auction in the Eagle Point Colony Subdivision, when we literally stumbled over boxes of these architectural drawings, blue prints and sketches. We knew they looked like valuable pieces of history and took them back to the office to do a little investigating. Once we realized the extent of the collection, we were certainly excited about our find.”
The collection found in the attic of the Eagle Point home included over 200+ Architectural Line Drawings, Spec Books, Blue Prints, and Sketches. Featured in the collection were architectural drawings and sketches for many notable Toledo-area buildings such as The Plaza Hotel, Jay K. Secor House, Willys Jeep Plant Plot Layouts, Old West End Homes, and Toledo & Detroit Area Banks, Schools, Businesses, and Masonic Temples. Many buildings included in the materials found are no longer standing and are only a distant Toledo memory.
